The famous Maiden’s Tower, an icon of Istanbul, which has been recently renovated and reopened as a museum after extensive restoration, is now beautifully illuminated in red with the Turkish flag and displaying the number 100 due to the celebration of the Republic Day next 29 October, which this year marks the first centenary of the founding of the modern Republic of Turkey by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The spectacle can be seen from many parts of the city but especially from the shores of the Üsküdar district, on the Asian side of Istanbul.
