Turkey, fire in a village in Kastamonu

Fire ravages an entire village in Turkey

A fire in Kastamonu, a province in north-central Turkey, has ravaged the village of Yağcılar, in the Tosya district, where more than 40 houses succumbed to the flames or were damaged despite the numerous firefighters who were dispatched to the area. According to Turkish media reports, the fire started on an electricity pole and from there the flames spread to a nearby house, and then, driven by the wind, to the rest of the houses.

“The fire jumped from an electric pole to my house. At first I didn’t understand what was happening. The neighbours shouted ‘Your house is on fire!’ I almost burned myself to death, but I managed to escape at the last minute,” said among tears Yaşar Değirmenci, one of the residents of this village in Turkey, now devastated by this terrifying fire, which can be seen from the air in the video in all its magnitude.
