Thousands of Turks are travelling to Georgia before the end of the year to buy a mobile phone (especially the new iPhone 14), taking advantage of the low prices in the neighbouring country and before Turkey increases the tariffs for importing a mobile, which will increase 123% as of January 1. In November alone, the number of Turks crossing the border with Georgia increased by almost 300%, and the number of imported mobile phones is expected to increase 60-fold to 1.5 million devices. A 128 GB iPhone 14 Pro Max costs about 1,500 euros in Georgia, while in Turkey its price due to high taxes is around 2,350 euros.
