The death toll from the 7.8 and 7.6 earthquakes that have devastated 10 southeastern provinces of Turkey already rises to at least 31,643, according to the latest data provided by the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD), which adds that 147,934 people have been evacuated to other provinces. Despite the fact that a week has passed since the earthquakes, people continue to appear alive among the rubble, although there is little hope of finding more survivors. Right now the main help that the victims need, in addition to psychological assistance, are winter tents or container houses to stay in, as well as mobile toilets and heating systems, due to the freezing temperatures in the region.
