Turkey, earthquake in Elazığ

Turkey includes another province among those affected by the earthquakes

The Turkish government has decided to also include the province of Elazığ, in the southeast of Turkey, among the provinces affected by the 7.8 and 7.6 earthquakes that devastated the region on February 6, and which have already caused more of 36,000 dead. Following a meeting of the central executive of the AKP party chaired by Turkish President Erdoğan, party spokesman Ömer Çelik announced that the province of Elazığ will also be declared a disaster area due to the damage suffered after the earthquakes. “Therefore, from now on we will talk about 11 provinces affected by the earthquakes,” declared Çelik, who also confirmed that the sum of 10,000 liras has begun to be paid into the bank accounts of those affected.
