The number of deaths from the earthquakes in Turkey has already exceeded 4,500, and there are about 27,000 injured, according to the latest official data provided by the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD). In total, about 435 aftershocks have been registered after the two main earthquakes of 4.8 and 4.6 that occurred yesterday with epicenter in Kahramanmaraş, which have affected a total of 10 provinces in southeastern Turkey. More than 60,000 emergency personnel, including some 3,200 from 65 countries, are still working around the clock to search and rescue survivors. Authorities have asked the local population not to enter the damaged buildings, and not to use mobile phones unless necessary.
