Turkish archaeologists have discovered under the ground of the courtyard of Istanbul’s Topkapı Palace a Roman tunnel composed of three sections, believed to be part of an ancient system of cisterns for storing water. The finding was made while searching for Byzantine remains in the area, and excavations will now be carried out in the area to see if the tunnel is connected to others.
