Turkey, village destroyed by fire

Fire devastates village in Turkey for the 3rd time in 20 years

A fire that broke out last night in the village of Dereiçi, located in the Rize province in Turkey’s Black Sea region, burned more than 60 houses and killed dozens of animals. The fire, which started for unknown reasons in this village of 170 houses, spread rapidly due to the wind and it took firefighters 8 hours to control it, although fortunately there were no victims. Dereiçi has suffered 3 major fires in just over 20 years: in 2014 a fire burned 11 houses and dozens of barns, and in 1997 another fire destroyed the village almost completely.
