Turkey, Syrian refugee fixes streets

This Syrian refugee fixes the streets of Turkey for free

Osama Shafie, a 59-years-old Syrian refugee who has been living for 6 years in Diyarbakır, in southeast Turkey, where he arrived fleeing the civil war in Syria, dedicates himself as a volunteer to fix for free any problem or damage he finds on the streets. “Since I was young, I wanted to do something for others, and I discovered that I can do it here, in Diyarbakır,” says Shafie, who claims to be inspired by the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad for his work. “Some people offer me money when they see me doing this, but I reject it. I only seek God’s blessing,” he says.
