Kadir Özdemir, a 31-year-old man who grew up in an orphanage after becoming orphaned at birth, has been visiting the villages and rural areas of eastern Turkey for the past 6 years, where he has so far given children from poor families 50,000 pairs of shoes, bought with the help of donations collected across the country through social media. “I do this because I do not forget where I come from. When I lived in the orphanage and received a pair of shoes, for me that was like the whole world. We were very happy when they gave us gifts, sometimes we even slept with them in bed”, says this benefactor.
