Turkey, health workers on strike

Health workers go on strike in Turkey

Thousands of doctors, nurses and health workers staged a day-long general strike yesterday demanding better wages, more security measures against assaults, and more staff. The strike, called by five unions from the health sector, comes after almost 2 years of a pandemic in which health workers have been overwhelmed by the number of patients, and after a proposal was withdrawn in parliament to improve the working conditions of health workers. During the one day strike, only the emergency and oncology services, as well as COVID care, functioned normally.
