A fourth group of wounded Palestinians from Gaza comprising 23 patients and their 21 companions was evacuated from Egypt to Turkey, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said, noting that Turkey has so far brought some 200 Palestinians to Turkish hospitals. “We have successfully evacuated a total of 200 people from Gaza so far, including 114 patients and 86 accompanying persons. Among the 23 patients who have arrived today (29 November), four are cancer patients,” Koca said.
“The group is predominantly composed of children and young people, the youngest being a five-month-old baby, and most cases are related to orthopaedic problems,” the minister noted as he welcomed the plane carrying the wounded Palestinians at the Etimesgut military airport, in Ankara. The injured evacuated this time include cases of bone fractures, trauma and eye damage. Koca also gave details of the field hospital that Turkey plans to set up in Gaza, for which a Turkish team has travelled to the Strip to determine its location, which will in any case be close to the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt. Meanwhile, a second ship loaded with 1,500 tonnes of humanitarian aid for Gaza has already left the Turkish port of Mersin for the Egyptian port of Al-Arish.
