At the beginning of August, the first mosque designed to imitate the shape of the Turkish flag, with the crescent and the star, was inaugurated in the Turkish province of Sivas. The Yukarı Tekke Ay Yıldız Mosque, which began construction in 2017, has capacity for 3,500 worshippers inside and for another 4,900 outside. Its interior decoration has been made by a group of women, and includes motifs with the Arabic letters Alif and Waw.
