All passenger flights to the southeast of Turkey have been suspended after the wave of earthquakes that has shaken the region, which suffered a 7.7 magnitude earthquake this morning and, later at noon, another tremor that reached 7.6 degrees on the Richter scale. The suspension affects flights to Kahramanmaraş, Hatay and Gaziantep, with the aim that planes carrying aid and rescue teams can land as soon as possible. Hatay airport, whose runway was severely damaged by the quake, remains closed to all flights, however.
