Fenerbahçe obtained yesterday a landslide victory against Çaykur Rizespor in Istanbul to get the three points they needed to stay top of the Turkish Football League, after their main rivals Galatasaray managed to win a day earlier against Ankaragücü, and temporarily snatched the top spot.
Sebastian Szymański‘s powerful left-footed kick with only two minutes gone foreshadowed a rain of goals that would have to wait until the second half: İrfan Kahveci (47th minute), Edin Džeko (62), Dušan Tadić (75), and finally Joshua King in stoppage time, completed the 5-0 victory against the Black Sea team by the Yellow Canaries. With this result, Fenerbahçe remain two points behind Galatasaray at the top of the table. Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor also won their respective matches and occupy 4th and 5th place in the league standings, respectively.
