Fenerbahçe closed the round 2 of the Turkish Super League by being crowned leaders of the Süper Lig after yesterday’s late match against Samsunspor. The 19 May Stadium in the city of Samsun, on Turkey’s Black Sea coast, hosted a Turkish league match for the first time, with the Yellow Canaries nevertheless dominating the game; however, the first goal did not come until 62 minutes in, when Fener’s new Bosnian signing Edin Džeko headed a great pass from Cengiz Ünder.
Polish midfielder Sebastian Szymański, in stoppage time, made the 0-2 with a lob over Samsunspor goalkeeper Okan Kocuk, putting it into the net. With this result, Fenerbahçe now leads with six points at the close of round 2 since, interestingly, is the only team who has won both matches since the start of the season. Galatasaray, on the other hand, achieved their first win against Trabzonspor, in an very awaited match between the league champions of the last and penultimate season, respectively.
