Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş won convincingly in their league matches. Galatasaray is 8th ahead of Trabzonspor, who was humiliated in Antalya.
Fenerbahçe has become the new leader of the Turkish league thanks to goal difference, after beating Demirspor 4-2 last night in the final match of round 3 of the 2022-2023 season.
Enner Valencia opened the scoring at the Ülker stadium in Istanbul after 20 minutes scoring a penalty, and again when 41 minutes had elapsed, so both teams went into the break 2-0 in favor of the Yellow Canaries. Just two minutes into the second half, Miha Zajc made the 3-0 for the Istanbul team.
Fener’s third goal left the game very uphill for the Adana team, who still managed to score their first goal just 9 minutes later thanks to a penalty scored by Younes Belhanda. 10 minutes later, in minute 66, Russian footballer Artiom Dziuba gave Demirspor hope with another goal.
However, in minute 82 the Ukrainian defender Yaroslav Rakitskyi was sent off by the referee, and Demirspor was left with one less player on the pitch, frustrating their chances of a comeback. Precisely, just one minute after Rakitskyi left the pitch, Fenerbahçe’s Macedonian defender Ezgjan Alioski scored the fourth goal, sealing the result.
With this result, Fenerbahçe is the new leader of the Turkish super league in its third week with 7 points, ahead of Başakşehir and Beşiktaş, who also won with a landslide victory. Galatasaray is 8th despite a narrow win at Ümraniye, just ahead of last season’s reigning league champion Trabzonspor, who suffered a painful 5-2 loss in Antalya.
