A Galatasaray lacking in ideas could not do anything against a Fenerbahçe that is already 2nd in the league. Criticism about Arda Turan’s bad shape.
Fenerbahçe easily prevailed in the intercontinental derby, claiming a 2-0 victory against Galatasaray in Istanbul on Sunday, during the 32nd round of the Turkish first division football league.
Miha Zajc opened the scoring in the 26th minute making it 1-0 at Istanbul’s Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium; from that moment on, Fenerbahçe became overconfident and the game lost some momentum, with a Galatasaray that seemed to lack ideas and unable to find the goal. The sentence for the Torrent team would come in the second half, when after 68 minutes of play Serdar Dursun scored the 2-0 with a beautiful header that Muslera could not stop.
In summary, a somewhat boring derby with an easy victory for Fenerbahçe against a Galatasaray, that is not going through its best moment and where practically only Kerem Aktürkoglu created some danger to the Yellow Canaries‘ goal. The entrance in the last minutes of an Arda Turan was surprising, since the 35 years-old player, after a time away due to injuries, drew attention among the fans for his evident overweight and his really bad shape.
With this victory in the intercontinental derby, Fenerbahçe now has 59 points and is placed 2nd in the table with 6 games to go before the end of this Super League season, temporarily securing the pass for the Champions League although at an almost insurmountable distance of 13 points from a Trabzonspor, that could be proclaimed mathematically league champion in a few weeks. Galatasaray, for its part, has 41 points and is 14th in the standings.
