New restaurants in Turkey in the cities of Istanbul, Izmir and Bodrum have been added to the prestigious Michelin Guide during a gala event held on 9 November at the Zorlu Centre in the Bosphorus metropolis. In total, Michelin inspectors have added 25 new restaurants in Istanbul, 15 in Izmir and 19 in Bodrum (a tourist resort on Turkey’s Aegean coast), bringing the total number of Turkish restaurants included in the Michelin Guide to 111.
A total of two restaurants received a Michelin Star in Istanbul: Arkestra and Sankai by Nagaya, while 8 other restaurants in the city received the Bib Gourmand award, which recognises establishments that serve quality cuisine at reasonable prices; no restaurant in Turkey received two stars this year. In Izmir, 3 restaurants were awarded the coveted Michelin Star: OD Urla, Teruar Urla and Vino Locale; and in Bodrum, two restaurants: Kitchen and İki Sandal.
