The production of the automobile industry in Turkey grew by 19% during the past month of October, reaching 136,177 units, according to the latest data published by the Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD, in Turkish), which indicate that last month 91,000 passenger cars were manufactured in Turkey (a 46.7% increase compared to October 2022) and about 45,000 light commercial vehicles (a 15% decrease compared to the same month last year).
During the first ten months of 2023, the automobile industry in Turkey produced approximately 1.2 million vehicles, a 12.4% increase compared to the same period last year, highlighting the increase in passenger car production of 23% to total 773,000 cars. Likewise, vehicle sales approached one million units sold (a 62% annual increase), with car sales in Turkey reaching 750,000 units between January and October, which represents an interannual increase of 68%. In total, export revenues from the automobile industry amounted to €27.1 billion so far this year, an increase of 12.8%.
