Car sales in Turkey, including combined sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, increased by 55.4% in October compared to the same month last year to a total of 101,367 units, according to the latest data released by the Association of Mobility and Automobile Dealers (ODMD, in Turkish). Sales of passenger cars alone, with 82,611 cars sold, increased by 74.1%, while sales of light commercial vehicles rose by 5.5%. In total, 749,501 passenger cars were sold in Turkey in the first 10 months of 2023, 68% more than in the same period last year.
Electric car sales figures in Turkey are also progressing very well, driven by the TOGG, Turkey’s first electric car. In October, electric car sales grew by 12% compared to 2022, and in the first 10 months of the year some 49,000 electric cars were sold in Turkey: an increase of no less than 890%, thanks mainly to the release of the new TOGG T10X, which has had to double its production plans to meet demand. At the same time, several foreign companies, including the well-known Chinese car manufacturer Chery, have already shown interest in investing in Turkey in electric cars and batteries manufacturing plants.
