A huge fire broke out this morning in the Esenyurt district of western Istanbul, completely engulfing the Şehit Erol Olçak Cultural Centre building, causing a huge plume of smoke visible throughout the city from several kilometres away.
The fire, which broke out at around 11:00 a.m., did not left any casualties or injured but did cause significant material damage, affecting not just the cultural centre building but also several vehicles in the street, as well as at least one other building adjacent. It took several Istanbul fire brigades an hour to extinguish the flames.
