A mother and her two children were rescued alive today after spending nearly 10 days (228 hours) buried under the remains of a building in central Antakya, Hatay province. “We heard a sound,” explained a miner who helped with the rescue efforts. “The mother was glad to see us. ‘What day is it?’ she asked. Her name was Ella. The first thing she asked for, was water. There was a boy and a girl. I held her hand, and tried to calm her down… We are very happy, this is the 5th life we have saved,” he recounted.
