Paludan and Quran burning

Finland investigates Russia’s ties to Koran burning

Finnish Prime Minister Pekka Haavisto claimed to have evidence of links between far-right activist Rasmus Paludan, author of the provocative burning of the Quran in front of the Turkish embassy in Sweden, and the Russian government, whose aim would be to stoke tensions in Turkey so that Ankara would not give the go-ahead to the entry of the Nordic country into NATO. The Swedish prime minister has asked to resume dialogue with Turkey, something that is ruled out by the Turkish government, which accuses Sweden of supporting terrorism.
