Two goals from Serbian striker Dušan Tadić gave Fenerbahçe victory yesterday on matchday 31 of the Turkish Süper Lig, as Mourinho‘s side travelled to the Anatolian city of Sivas. A result with which the Yellow Canaries manage to maintain their 3-point lead over the leaders, Galatasaray, with only 7 matchdays left to play in the 2024-2025 Turkish Super League season.
Talisca opened the scoring for Fenerbahçe in the 42nd minute with a great free kick goal at Sivasspor’s 4 Eylül Stadium, where low temperatures caused the pitch to be covered in white hours before the game and even snowflakes could be seen during the match. Barely into the second half, Tadić scored the second when he found himself with a loose ball in the six-yard box and an open goal: he barely had to push the ball in to make it 0-2.
Ten minutes later, German footballer of Turkish origin Efkan Bekiroğlu scored the only goal for the home team, when in the 57th minute he fired a powerful shot from outside the box that was unstoppable for Livaković. In the final seconds of the game, Tadić scored his second goal of the night with a left-footed shot from outside the box that went in tight to the left post; 5 minutes earlier another Serbian, Uroš Radaković of Sivasspor, was sent off with a straight red card for bringing down Nesyri on the edge of the box.
With this victory, the Fenerbahçe remains in the running for the league title with Galatasaray, who won 0-2 in Samsun on Friday. For its part, the Beşiktaş seems unable to overcome its crisis and, on Saturday, it lost at home to a direct rival, the Başakşehir. The league round closes today with a last match in Istanbul between Eyüpspor and the bottom team, Adana Demirspor, who has no chance of avoiding relegation.
