Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe managed to win thanks to a second-half goal from Dušan Tadić, a result that keeps them second in the Turkish league but which has sparked fierce criticism in recent hours from some of the team’s fans, including famous Turkish singer Fettah Can, who has called on the Portuguese coach to ‘get the f… out’ because of the team’s poor play on the pitch.
In an evenly contested match at the Konya Büyükşehir stadium in the Anatolian city, Konyaspor pulled off a surprise by scoring their first goal just 25 seconds into the game through Pedrinho. Mert Müldür headed the Yellow Canaries level from a corner after 14 minutes, and Çağlar Söyüncü put the Istanbul team ahead 10 minutes later in a similar play but from the opposite flank.
From the second goal onwards, Fenerbahçe took more risks and began to attack with intensity, but it was Konyaspor who scored in the final moments of the first half, with Blaž Kramer heading a beautifully taken header to equalise before the break.
It was 60 minutes into the second half when Tadić intercepted a short pass from the Konyaspor goalkeeper to score the third and final goal for Fenerbahçe, who secured a much-needed win to maintain their title challenge with Galatasaray, who remains unbeaten and are now eight points ahead of Mourinho’s team.
Fenerbahçe fan’s harsh criticism of Mourinho
The Portuguese coach was in the spotlight after the match for criticism from Fenerbahçe fans of the way they played in Konya, where the team struggled at times to beat opponents who are close to the relegation places and, in fact, look increasingly unlikely to avoid Galatasaray from winning another league title.
A well-known Fener fan, the famous Turkish singer Fettah Can, could not hold back his anger at the Portuguese coach and asked him on social media to ‘get the f*** out’, according to Turkish media reports.
‘Mourinho, get the f*** out, enough is enough,’ Can wrote on his profile on the social networking site X, formerly Twitter. ‘Whoever condemned Fenerbahçe to this despicable football should resign immediately. What a shame what a shame,’ added the singer, who later deleted the messages.
