The electric vehicle market in Turkey continues to show spectacular figures, surpassing the 100,000 electric car sales mark in the Eurasian country during the first 7 months of 2025, according to data recently released by the Turkish Automotive and Mobility Dealers Association (ODMD).
As reported by various Turkish media and agencies such as Anatolia, a total of 103,310 electric vehicles (102,160 pure electric, and 1,150 E-REV or extended range) were sold in Turkey between January and July this year in the Turkish market, where total car sales grew in the first seven months of 2025 by 6.68% to 572,198 units, while those of light commercial vehicles increased by 5.77% to 143,497 units, according to the ODMD.
In total between January and July, in addition to 102,160 100% electric cars, 266,095 petrol cars, 153,363 hybrids, 45,678 diesel cars and 3,752 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cars were sold in Turkey. Adding pure electrics, extended-range electrics and hybrids, they accounted for 44.9% of total sales in the period to 256,673 units; in other words, 4 out of 10 cars sold in Turkey in the first 7 months of the year had some degree of electrification.
Sales of 100% electric cars grow by 146.9%
Compared to the same period last year, sales of 100% electric cars grew by 146.9% last year, while petrol and diesel sales fell by 23.8% and 21.7% respectively, while sales of LPG-powered cars increased by 5.2%.
In terms of total cars sold between January and July, full electric cars accounted for 17.9% of sales in the Turkish market, compared to only 7.7% in the same period in 2024, while hybrids accounted for 26.8% compared to 14.9% a year ago. Plug-in hybrids accounted for 30,013 units (5.2% of the total), up 1.49% compared to the same period last year.
In July alone, 100% electric cars sold in Turkey reached 17,225 units (20.5% of the total) while hybrids accounted for 21,656 units (25.7% of the total). Tesla led the market with the Model Y, with 4,706 units sold, followed by the Turkish brand TOGG with its successful model T10X, which reached 2,720 units sold. In short, these figures reflect the rapid evolution of the Turkish car market towards electrification, and consolidate the Turkish market in the top 10 of the strongest markets for electric cars in Europe.
