Turkish carmaker TOGG continues to lead the electric car market in Turkey, where the firm sold more than 17,000 units of its successful T10X model in the first six months of 2025 – 20% of all electric cars sold in that period in the Eurasian country – and is preparing to put its new T10F sports sedan model on sale this summer.
Between January and June this year, more than 600,000 cars were sold in Turkey, 5.2% more than in the same period last year, according to data from the Association of Automobile and Mobility Dealers of Turkey (ODMD) cited by Turkish media. At the same time, sales of 100% electric vehicles grew by 138.4% in the same period compared to the same half of 2024, reaching 84,956 units: as a result, the share of full electric cars in total sales in Turkey rose from 7.7% in the first six months of last year to 17.4% this year.
The share of hybrid cars in total vehicle sales in the Eurasian country also grew in the same period, from 14% to 27%. Thus, if 100% electric cars, extended-range cars and hybrids are included in the same group, they accounted for 44.6% of all cars sold in the first six months of 2025. Analysts expect this trend to continue to increase in the future in Turkey, which already ranks among the top 10 markets for electric cars in Europe, according to ODMD figures.
TOGG, the manufacturer of Turkey’s first electric car, maintained its leadership in the first half of 2025, selling 17,101 vehicles in this period and outselling its nearest competitor, US manufacturer Tesla, by 4,781 units. TOGG thus captured 20% of the market in the first six months of the year and increased its sales from the 13,021 recorded in the first half of 2024, all of them corresponding to the T10X, its first and until this summer only model, which is scheduled to start selling already this year in the European market.
TOGG, Tesla and BYD are competing in the ‘full electric’ market.
Elon Musk‘s company occupied the 2nd place in the Turkish electric market, with 12,320 units sold between January and June this year; the rest of the ranking was completed by BYD (10,401 units), KIA (5,539) and MINI (5,521). However, taking into account only the June data, Tesla led 100% electric sales with 7,235 units, followed by BYD (3,361), TOGG (3,098), Citroen (2,469) and Peugeot (1,174). By model, the best-selling model in the first six months of 2025 was the TOGG T10X, followed by the Tesla Model Y, the MINI Countryman, the KIA EV3 and the BYD Atto 3.
In the coming weeks, the new model unveiled by TOGG last year at CES 2024 in Las Vegas is scheduled to go on sale: its T10F sedan model, a car with a sleeker and sportier design than its predecessor that also offers a longer range – around 600 km – as well as the latest technology in terms of assisted driving and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
With its new launch, which was tested this past weekend in public by Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan, TOGG seeks to consolidate and expand its presence in the Turkish electric car market following the success of the T10X, which was such that it forced the company to double its initially planned production.
