Justice ratifies blocking of access to Uber in Turkey

Turkey’s Supreme Court of Appeals has upheld the decision previously issued by the Turkish justice to block access to Uber throughout the country. According to Turkish media, theTurkish Supreme Court confirmed the sentence issued by a local court in Istanbul in October 2019, considering that the request to review the original sentence does not have sufficient evidence to change the verdict, which occurred as a result of a lawsuit filed by the United Taxi Drivers Association. Then, the Istanbul court ruled that Uber’s services constituted unfair competition, and ordered the blocking of all websites and apps offering Uber‘s services in Turkey.
