Two Canadair aircraft of the 43rd Group of the Spanish Air Force sent by Spain that departed from Malaga, have participated since the first days of August in the fight against the wildfires that devastate Turkey, specifically in the province of Muğla, on the Turkish Aegean coast . The Spanish aid includes the dispatch of 4 crews, a maintenance team and several military personnel from the UME (Military Emergency Unit). With about 14 hours of flight a day and more than 50 water discharges a day on the fires, Spain is one of the countries that has sent planes to assist Turkey against the more than 200 fires that have been declared in the last 10 days, most in southern Anatolia, fuelled by an intense heat wave that is unleashing a wave of fires across the Mediterranean, including Greece and Italy. The Turkish president assured this week that all areas devastated by fire will be repopulated with trees, and that construction will never be allowed in them.
