A group of animal defenders demonstrated yesterday in the streets of Tunceli, in eastern Turkey, to protest against a group of a dozen hunters who arrived from Spain, and who plan to hunt 80 wild boars in a week. “The life of every creature is sacred, be it wild boar or other animals. This is a massacre, not a sport,” complained one of the activists who demonstrated in front of the lodge where the hunters are staying. It is not clear if they have hunting licenses issued by the governor of the province, who last year prohibited hunting several species, but the mayor of Tunceli is one of those who reject this activity and has asked the hunters to “leave de Tunceli as soon as possible”:”Killing an innocent living being is the greatest act of savagery,” he wrote on Twitter. Several hotels in the city have also refused to offer them accommodation.
