Rescue operations conclude in 9 provinces of Turkey

Rescue operations in search of new survivors have been concluded in 9 of the 11 provinces affected by the earthquakes in Turkey, as announced by the Agency for Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD), while for now they will continue in Kahramanmaraş and Hatay, the two provinces most affected by the earthquakes. According to the most recent data provided by AFAD, the number of deaths now rises to 41,156 people, of whom some 21,000 died in Hatay province, according to local authorities. “At least 80% of the buildings must be demolished in Antakya,” said the metropolitan mayor of Hatay.
