The famous British-American director Christopher Nolan will shoot part of his new and eagerly awaited film, ‘The Odyssey’, which is expected to be released in 2026 and will be Nolan’s most expensive film to date, in Turkey, specifically on the Turkish Black Sea coast.
According to several newspapers such as Hürriyet, the award-winning director of Hollywood films such as the Oscar-winning ’Oppenheimer’, ‘Interstellar’, ‘Inception’, ‘Dunkirk’ and ‘The Dark Knight’, will shoot part of the scenes for his new film at Cape Jason (Yason Burnu, in Turkish), a small peninsula located in the Perşembe district of the Turkish province of Ordu.
Cape Jason is a peninsula of great historical value as it is home to the remains of an ancient port 2,300 years old, and is also one of the places mentioned in the Greek legend of the Golden Fleece. The place is also a popular destination for water sports and is home to a lighthouse and a Greek church from the 19th century.
It is a protected natural area located next to the motorway between Samsun and Ordu and is visited by many local tourists every year, who are attracted by the beauty of the surroundings and the spectacular sunsets that can be seen from the peninsula, mainly in the summer months.
The film is also being shot in Sicily, the UK and Morocco
The information reported in the Turkish press is based on that published on social networks linked to the director, which showed an image of the peninsula of Jason together with the message ‘Some scenes of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey, will be filmed in Yason Burnu, in the Perşembe district of Ordu, Turkey’.
‘The Odyssey’ tells the story of the journey and adventures of Odysseus (Ulysses) after the War of Troy and his reunion with his wife Penelope, based on Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey. Nolan’s new film, starring actors of the stature of Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson, will also be shot in the Aeolian Islands of Sicily, the UK and Morocco, and is scheduled for release in cinemas on 17 July 2026.
