salsa de pimiento rojo

Red pepper sauce

We are going to teach you how to prepare a simple but typical Turkish red pepper sauce to accompany dishes, use it with bread, or as a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg red pepper
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 100 g peeled walnuts
  • 5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 teaspoons thyme
  • Salt

Preparation

Wash and cut the peppers in two parts, and clean the seeds.

Wash the tomatoes and cut them in the shape of a cross underneath.

Preheat the oven to 200 ºC, and bake the peppers and tomatoes until they are well cooked for approximately 25-30 minutes. Then remove from the oven and leave to cool.

When cool, peel the skins off the peppers and tomatoes. Cut them into large chunks and put them in the mincer.

Peel the garlic and add it to the mixture in the mincer, and continue mincing.

Separately, heat a frying pan without oil and put the walnuts in it. Stir them for a minute and turn off the heat. Add the cumin, thyme and salt and mix well in the pan.

Then add all the ingredients to the bowl of the mincer and mix for a further 1-2 minutes.

The red pepper sauce is now ready to serve. You can serve it with potatoes, spaghetti, macaroni, or you can also use it as a bread spread, either as toast or as a snack.

Enjoy!
