More than a quarter of a million tourists have visited Cappadocia (one of the main destinations for tourism in Turkey) between June and August, during the so-called “new normal” decreed after the confinement by the coronavirus pandemic. While only 16,000 tourists visited the region in June, 158,000 did so in August. In addition to its incredible landscapes with its “fairy chimneys”, Cappadocia (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is famous for its balloon tours, its rock-cut monasteries and its underground cities.
