On the occasion of the 147th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Guatemala, a balloon tour company decided to fly over the tourist region of Cappadocia at dawn with the flags of both countries. Turkey inaugurated its embassy in Guatemala in 2019, during a visit to this country of Latin America by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
