The great success of Turkish series in Latin America has made that many parents give their children Turkish names.
The tremendous success that Turkish series have had in Latin America for several years now has led to many parents in several countries of the region beginning to baptise their children with the names of their favourite characters from Turkish soap operas.
This is what happens, for example, in Paraguay, where the Civil Status Registry recently released several Turkish names on Twitter that have become very popular among Paraguayans when it comes to baptising their children, such as Şehrazad, Kerim, Kemal, Devran or Mustafa.
“Some of these names are inspired by Turkish soap operas and series”, assured from the entity, where they gave curious examples of registered names like “Onur Juan José”, “Sherazade Verenice”, “Wilson Kemal” or “Salvano Mustafa”, clearly inspired in characters from some Turkish series.
It is, however, a phenomenon not exclusive to Paraguay, and that we also find in other Latin American countries where Turkish series have been triumphing for years, such as Chile, Argentina, Colombia or Mexico.
