Sadakatsiz (Unfaithful) is a popular Turkish drama about betrayal, revenge and relationships. Here is the plot, main cast and why the series was eventually cancelled.
Sadakatsiz plot
“Sadakatsiz“, translated in Spain as “Infiel” (“Unfaithful“) and in Chile as “Traicionada (“Betrayed”), is a popular Turkish series starring Cansu Dere and Caner Cindoruk that is gathering great success in both countries. The story follows Asya Yılmaz, a successful doctor who seems to have the perfect life in the city of Tekirdağ with her husband, Volkan, and her teenage son, Ali. Her world comes crashing down when she finds a long strand of blonde hair on her husband’s scarf.
The Discovery:
After investigating, Asya discovers that Volkan has been having an extramarital affair for two years with Derin Güçlü, a 24-year-old woman who is also pregnant with his child.
The Collective Betrayal:
The most painful thing for Asya is discovering that all her close friends and her social circle knew about the infidelity and kept it from her, forcing her to live in a web of lies.
Revenge:
Instead of playing the victim, Asya meticulously plans her revenge. The plot turns into a psychological game where she seeks to expose Volkan and secure custody of her son, while also confronting the power of Derin’s wealthy family.
Sadakatsiz cast
The main cast of the Turkish series Sadakatsiz (also known as Infidel or Betrayed) is led by some of the most recognizable faces in Turkish television.

Sadakatsiz seasons and story development
Sadakatsiz Season 1:
Focuses on the divorce proceedings, the public confrontation over infidelity, and the battle for Ali. It ends with a dramatic car accident involving Asya and Derin.
Sadakatsiz Season 2:
After the accident, Asya tries to start over in Istanbul. Her life intersects with Aras (Berkay Ateş), a man she meets after another accident, while Volkan desperately tries to win her back despite having started a family with Derin.
The series stands out for exploring themes such as betrayal, narcissism, and the resilience of a woman determined not to be destroyed by her surroundings.
Sadakatsiz: a Turkish series with great success
In Spain, the series has been very successful: at the beginning of April the last chapter of the 1st season was broadcasted on A3, and the premiere of the 2nd season was a success with a 16% share and almost 2.2 million viewers. In Chile, the premiere this month on Mega of the 1st season of the Turkish series led the audience with 13.3%, becoming the most watched on TV and the most commented on social networks in the country.
However, there is bad news for the fans: the TV network that produced this Turkish drama, Kanal D, has announced that Sadakatsiz Turkish series was cancelled, meaning there will be no third season.
Sadakatsiz ending explained
The conclusion takes place years after the main conflicts, revealing the fate of each main character:
- Asya Yılmaz: She finds the peace she longed for. After selling her properties in Tekirdağ and ensuring that Volkan pays for his actions, she moves to London to live near her son Ali, who is studying there.
- Volkan Arslan: He ends up in utter misery and loneliness. After spending time in prison, he is released only to discover that he has lost everything: his family, his money, and his prestige. The finale shows him wandering the streets of Tekirdağ, living on memories and regrets.
- Derin Güçlü: After a suicide attempt and a period of mental instability in a psychiatric facility, she manages to recover. She finally finds emotional stability, rebuilds her life with a new partner (Onur), and dedicates herself to raising her daughter Zeynep far from Volkan’s toxicity.
- 20 years later: The final episode includes a time jump where Ali and Zeynep (Derin and Volkan’s daughter) reunite at their father’s grave. Ali mentions that he has finally forgiven him, understanding that Volkan was his own worst enemy.
Why was Sadakatsiz cancelled after season 2?
Turkish series Sadakatsiz (Unfaithful) was cancelled after two seasons. However, the series was not abruptly canceled, but rather came to a natural conclusion after a total of 60 episodes (in its original Turkish version).
Although there were rumors of a possible third season, the production company decided not to renew it in order to wrap up the story at the height of its popularity. Besides, viewership ratings were exceptional in countries like Spain and Argentina, but in Turkey the series faced several challenges:
Plot Conclusion:
The writers felt that Asya’s revenge story had run its course and could no longer continue logically without becoming repetitive.
Fines and Censorship:
The series received constant sanctions from the Turkish regulatory council (RTÜK) for allegedly “normalizing extramarital affairs” and setting a “bad example” for society, which put pressure on the production.
Declining viewership in Season 2:
Unlike the first season, the second season faced some criticism for subplots that didn’t resonate as well with the local audience, which hastened the decision not to extend it beyond episode 60.
All these reasons led to the cancellation of Sadakatsiz (Unfaithful) after two seasons, despite the huge success of this Turkish series.
