Turkey, submerged statue of the Lycian civilisation

Statues of the Lycian civilisation, submerged under water in Turkey

Replicas of lost historical objects from the ancient Lycian civilisation, including statues and columns, are being placed underwater in a large underwater park off the coast of Kaş (Antalya) as part of a project launched in 2016 that, until the date, it has already submerged 658 replicas of historical pieces selected by scientists and historians. The pieces are made of non-polluting, water-resistant materials and represent historical objects known to exist but that have disappeared, destroyed or looted by treasure hunters.
