In Istanbul, a bizarre traffic accident in the Beşiktaş district on the European side of the city left a car crashing into the ground floor of a housing block. According to local residents, the freak incident apparently occurred when a woman driver mistook the brake pedal for the accelerator while parking, causing the car to be thrown forward and fall into a 10-metre high hole. The woman was slightly injured, and although she was able to get out of the car on her own, she was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries.
