The Sweden‘s public prosecutor’s office has decided that it will not open an investigation against the burning of the Quran carried out on January 21 by the far-right politician Rasmus Paludan in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm. According to the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Nyheter, following a lawsuit filed by a citizen against the act, the prosecutor specialized in hate crimes Fredrik Ingblad has announced the dismissal of the complaint arguing that the burning of the Koran should be considered within the limits of freedom of expression, that said act did not constitute provocation or incitement to hatred against any group, and that therefore there is no need to open an investigation against it.
