Sweden responds to Erdoğan: the agreement with Turkey did not include religion

The Swedish foreign minister, Tobias Billström, has responded to Erdoğan’s latest statements about the Turkish slamming of the door at Sweden’s entry into NATO by claiming that, in the tripartite memorandum signed in June last year, “religion was not part of the agreement”, and that Sweden is complying with what was agreed with Turkey and Finland. Billström said he understood Turkey’s anger over the Koran burning and other incidents, but insisted that, while disrespectful, they are legal acts.
