Record souvenir purchases by tourists visiting Turkey

Tourists visiting Turkey spent a record amount of more than 1 billion dollars on souvenirs during the first 6 months of this year, corroborating the good figures for tourism revenues in 2025.

As reported recently by the Anatolia news agency citing data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), between January and June foreign tourists visiting Türkiye spent $1,048,518 on souvenirs, a 15% more than in the same period last year, when total spending was $904 million. The figure marks an all-time high, the first time that souvenir receipts in Turkey have surpassed the $1 billion mark.

The most popular purchases of souvenirs and products about Turkey among tourists during the first half of the year included decorative items such as magnets or carpets, and Turkish food products such as lokum (Turkish delights), baklava or dried fruit, bought mainly in tourist destinations such as Istanbul, Antalya or Muğla (on the southern Aegean coast).

Turkey, which welcomed 56.7 million foreign tourists last year and obtained a record tourism revenue of $61.1 billion, has thus consolidated its position as the world’s fourth largest tourist destination, according to data from the World Tourism Organisation.
