India, oxygen arrives to combat COVID-19 pandemic

Oxygen reaches India to help fight COVID-19 pandemic

International aid has begun to arrive in India, where shortages of ventilators and oxygen have caused many deaths amid the dramatic spike in infections. Only on Sunday, the Asian country registered 3,689 deaths and some 400,000 infections in the last 24 hours, the highest figure since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, although experts believe that the real figures could be up to 30 times higher. Despite having announced the vaccination of all those over 18 years of age and being the world’s largest producer of vaccines, paradoxically this country of 1.4 billion inhabitants does not have enough stock of doses to vaccinate the 600 million people over 18 years of age that it’s estimated to live in India.
