Turkey, 2016 failed coup

5 years since the failed coup in Turkey

Turkey remembered the victims of the failed coup in July 15 2016, with ceremonies and acts of tribute in honor of the 215 killed and 2,734 injured during the night of the coup for confronting the military. The coup plotters stormed the hotel where was staying Erdoğan, who flew to Istanbul pursued by two F-16 fighters, and bombed the Turkish parliament in Ankara. Many of the victims occurred in Istanbul, where soldiers fired into crowds on the Bosphorus Bridge, now renamed the July 15 Martyrs’ Bridge.
