Relatives, neighbours and numerous authorities attended yesterday’s funeral in Turkey for Mikail Bozlağan, the 24-year-old victim of Sunday’s terror attack in Ankara, in which one suicide bomber blew himself up and another was killed in a shootout with police. Bozlağan, a veterinarian by profession, married and with a six-month-old son, was driving to treat an animal from his home province of Kayseri to Adana when he picked up the two terrorists while they were hitchhiking. The police investigation has revealed that after picking them up, a struggle ensued and that the terrorists eventually shot him in order to use his vehicle in the attack.
“He was a person with a deep respect for his country, a hard worker, and always ready to help. He was a very dear person, held in high esteem by his neighbours,” one of his relatives said at the funeral. As Turkey mourns the victims of the Ankara terror attack, Turkish security forces launched a large-scale operation against the PKK terrorist group this morning; the operation, the result of an investigation by the prosecutor’s office and intelligence services (MİT), took place in 18 provinces but focused mainly on Şanlıurfa, and culminated in the arrest of nearly 70 suspects, according to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
