The Turkish historian Arzu Ulaş toured the historical remains under Istanbul exploring cisterns, wells, aqueducts and fountains hidden for centuries under the foundations of places such as Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, Süleymaniye Mosque or the Church of Saint Irene. Ulaş photographed for the first time, with the help of divers and cavers, many of the structures located under a city that has been inhabited for 8,000 years and where more than 120 emperors and sultans ruled for 16 centuries.
