The former Real Madrid player and coach stayed incognito for two weeks in Istanbul to undergo a hair transplant and change his image.
Legendary football player and coach Zinedine Zidane would have recently travelled to Istanbul for two weeks to get a hair transplant at a clinic in the city, known as the world capital of hair implants, according to information published by the Turkish press.
The news, published by newspapers such as Hürriyet, indicates that Zidane would have chosen to get hair grafts in Turkey – a country that in recent years has promoted the so-called health tourism – to change his iconic bald image; for this, the French soccer star would have stayed incognito for two weeks in a luxurious hotel in the Beşiktaş district, on the European shore of Istanbul; according to the Turkish newspaper, it would be the Raffles Hotel, a 5-star hotel located in the commercial and residential complex Zorlu Center.
To preserve anonymity, all reservations and contacts for the stay in Istanbul of the former football player – who recently turned 50 years old – would have been made under the name of his manager. Finally, and after undergoing the hair transplant operation in a clinic whose name has not been revealed, he would have returned to France, also clandestinely so as not to attract media attention.
Zinedine Zidane has been both player and coach of Real Madrid, taking charge of the team in January 2016, when jokes about his hair loss were already popular. If the news about his hair transplant in Istanbul is confirmed, Zidane’s case would not be the only one in the world of football, anyway: “Cholo” Simeone, Iker Casillas or even David Beckam are some of the best-known football names that, according to media, got a hair transplant.
