Turkey may still have a few years left to send an astronaut to the Moon… But what it can already brag about is of having sent a kebab into space, thanks to the idea of the owner of a Turkish restaurant, who wanted to send a dish of the famous “Adana kebab” into the stratosphere. With the help of a space engineering student, the kebab was placed in a special box with cameras and a geolocation device, and launched in a balloon on April 12 (coinciding with the anniversary of Yuri Gagarin‘s flight) in a journey of 3 hours that reached 38 km. high. “I think the aliens sent it back because it had too much pepper. I’ll send them a less spicy dish next time,” joked the restaurateur after retrieving the kebab.
