A presidential decree that came into force on 23 December, after being published in the Official Gazette of the Republic, lifts visa requirements for citizens of six countries wishing to travel to Turkey, including the US, Canada, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
The landmark decision, which seeks to strengthen tourism and trade relations with these countries, will allow citizens of the US and Canada as well as the other countries included in the decree to travel for tourism to Turkey and stay in the country for up to 90 days within 180 days of entry, without the need to apply for a visa as was previously required. Since 2020, British tourists can also travel to Turkey without a visa.
